Time for a little cultcha. From day one cave’s have had art on the walls. The art has ranged from primitive drawings to sophisticated installations.
Over the past 10 years I have been a fan of Josh Agle’s work, done under the name of Shag. Shag is a contraction of the last two letters of his first name and the first two letters of his last name. Josh Agle began as a commercial illustrator, mastering many styles but he has become world famous for the kitschy story paintings that are shown all over the world today. His work may fall into the low-brow art category, but the style and substance are top notch.
Every painting has a story, but you don’t have to have a background in art history to enjoy them. They are accessible to everyone. Themes like jet setting, all things tiki, hot rods, crime and passion all all easy to enjoy. His compositions and color schemes can improve any cave. He offers from really cool bamboo and skull frames to finish off the works.
Check out his site, shag.com to see more of his extensive work. There may be a gallery near you showing his work. What better way to surprise and impress your cave girl than by taking her to an art gallery? You may even come home with a work of art to supe up your man cave. If you can’t make it to a show, but still want some of this great art for your cave, check out shagmart.com. There are plenty of prints and cool stuff for any cave.
