I’m not buying Tiger’s address to the nation this morning.
If he really believes that he lives by the same rules as the rest of us, then he would have had a real press conference with real reporters asking real questions. Instead he gave us a statement on his terms and with his rules. It seems less than sincere to not interact with the people he claims to care so much about. With the blue curtains in the background this was more like a presidential address than a press conference. It really felt like he was going to talk to us little people when he was ready and on his terms. Mission accomplished.
If he really thinks he is throwing himself on the mercy of the court of public opinion, then maybe he should have let the judge ask him a couple of softball questions.
I don’t buy his comments about keeping his personal life personal. He has personally benefited from the attention of the press, more than anyone in the history of sports. The benefit of being in the international press comes with the price that Tiger does not have control over when and where the spotlight shines. That is like saying he wants all the money, but is not going to pay taxes. Fame comes with the intrusive press. You either decide to live with the benefits at that price, or you become a mere mortal like the rest of us.
I’m also not buying the mom-hug, then hugging everyone in the front row bit either. Of course, all of this show was staged and the actors were not professionals. But even so, it seems insincere to make the rounds for an emotional appeal at the end. Koby really did it better with his wife at his side.
Maybe we should stop looking to celebrities as role models. Just because they are good at a sport or acting does not mean they are good at everything else. But we want them to be our all around heroes. Part of the blame for setting the stage is on the press and its readers wanting to fabricate perfect heroes. Can we just accept him as a great golfer and leave it at that?
No one really knows if Tiger is sorry that he got caught or truly sorry for what he did. I do buy that he is angry that his family has been dragged into the mess. Tiger’s sincerity will be proven out over the next couple of years. Only time will tell who he really is.

The whole thing was a JOKE! He HAD to do the speech to save his sorry ass… and the remaining “sponsors” he has! In addition, by staying with this over-hyped piece of crap… Elin is demonstrating to the World’s little girls and young women that TRUST in a marriage isn’t important, at all! He’s a punk!
Gatorade drops Tiger. Maybe they don’t buy his apology either?
So earlier today I commented that I seriously hate Tiger Woods, and now I not only hate him but I think he has all the taste of a horny twelve year old. Good grief. Tell me again WHAT besides $$$ did his wife ever see in him?!
